Abdominal Aesthetic
Pregnancy period, weight gain and loss, and aging may lead to loosening of the abdomen. In this case, the abdominal area looks saggy and bad.
The skin on the abdomen grows due to weight gain and during pregnancy. With the end of pregnancy or excessive weight loss, the fat layer under the skin melts and loses volume, but in some people, the expanding skin cannot keep up with the volume loss of the fat layer and remains the same. This creates an unpleasant appearance in the abdomen.
Many people experience discomfort due to this relaxation in the abdomen. Although sports and medical applications are used to correct these sagging and stretch marks in the abdominal area, in most cases this does not provide sufficient tightening. Since excess skin has formed in the area and this excess skin must be removed by surgical interventions.
Referred to as “Abdominoplasty” in the medical literature, is the process of removing loose, sagging, cracked and excessively fatty skin in the abdominal area of the person. With the surgical intervention to eliminate deformities in the abdominal area, all these skin sagging and loosening are removed. The final remaining scars are hidden under underwear and in the bikini. However, belly aesthetics are also addressed in abdominoplasty surgeries. The belly is the most important aesthetic unit of the abdominal region. During the tummy tuck, the patient is given a new, hollow and pleasant looking belly button by using their own belly button. Another application performed during abdominal stretching is tightening the abdominal muscles.
The more pregnancies people experience or the more frequent and excessive weight gain and loss, the more these deformations and problems increase. In such cases, the skin in more areas needs to recover. For this reason, sometimes tummy tuck surgeries can be performed in a way we call “360-degree lift” veya “Belt lipectomy”by extending it further backwards, over the buttocks, depending on the condition of excess skin.
In patients with excessive weight loss, stretching only in the vertical plane may not be sufficient. In these cases, abdominal stretching is required in both the vertical and horizontal planes. This means that in addition to the scar hidden under the bikini, a vertical scar remains on the abdomen. This surgery is called "Flour de Lis Tummy Tuck."
In some cases, the laxity may be limited to just above the hairy area (pubis). In these cases, with a shorter scar, a lift is performed in the under belly area without any procedure on the belly. This is called “mini tummy tuck”.
