Nose Aesthetic
Rhinoplasty is a surgical operation requested by people who want to change the shape of their nose.
People who want to have a more characteristic and aesthetic appearance prefer this surgery. After the necessary examinations, it is decided whether the person is suitable for the operation.
The nose is an organ located in the center of our face. A beautiful nose is one of the most important elements of facial aesthetics. When viewed from the side, it is the main part that forms the facial image as it protrudes forward. Deformities are immediately noticeable. In this respect, rhinoplasty is one of the most performed plastic surgery operations all over the world. In addition to having a beautiful shape, the nose also has a breathing function. In nose surgeries, both aesthetic and breathing function corrections can be made. This is called septorhinoplasty surgery.
It is generally an operation performed under general anesthesia. Very rarely, nasal tip aesthetics, which we call tip plasty, can only be performed with local anesthesia. The patient requires an overnight hospital stay. 3 days after the operation, the silicone tampon in the nose is removed, and 7 days later, the nasal dorsal splint is removed, which allows the nasal bones to fuse properly. There may be bruising and swelling around the eyes, which finally resolves completely within 10-12 days. Nose surgeries are almost painless. Minor pains are manageable with painkillers.
In order for a person to undergo rhinoplasty, the development of the face and nose must be completed. This development is completed at the age of 16 for women and 18 for men. It is 16 years old for women and 18 years old for men.
There are two types of rhinoplasty techniques, Open and Closed technique. Both techniques have their own advantages and disadvantages. Excellent results can be achieved with both, and one technique does not necessarily trump the other. It is better for the physician to continue with the technique they are used to and continue to get excellent results.
In open rhinoplasty, , the structures that give the nose its shape, especially those consisting of cartilage tissue, are opened in such a way that the surgeon can shape them visually. It is a technique whose results are very well known and proven. Most of the nose surgeries performed today are performed using this technique. In this technique, a scar remains in the lower part of the nose, which can be hidden in the shadow of the nose, never bothers the patients and already disappears almost completely over time.
Closed rhinoplasty is performed through the nostrils without leaving any scar on the nose. The nose is not opened as much as in the open technique. The learning curve for the surgeon is longer and revision rates are higher since it is performed with specific techniques without fully visualizing the tissues compared to open operation. The advantage is that the postoperative edema period is shorter. It is a method that has gained popularity in recent years.
In recent years, piezoelectric surgery has also come to the fore in shaping the nasal bones. This means breaking and shaping the bones with the help of a surgical device. Although edema is less, it has not been very popular since it prolongs the duration of surgery.
