Jaw Aesthetic

Chin aesthetics is the name given to the surgical procedure performed to change the appearance of the chin and make it more harmonious with the rest of the face.

The front and side view of the lower jaw has a very important effect on the appearance of masculine and feminine facial features. Therefore, it is a demanded practice for both men and women.

There are several methods to create the appropriate chin contour.

External injection of injection materials:  : It is a procedure performed under medical office conditions using many fillers such as hyaluronic acid. These substances are injected into the areas needed in the chin to create a chin contour.   These substances are absorbed by the body within 8-12 months, after which the procedure must be repeated.

Fat injection:  It is a procedure in which the fat taken from the waist or abdomen of the patient is injected into the chin tip and chin contours after some procedures. It is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 45 minutes. Fat injection is a semi-permanent procedure. The fat that retains stays for life. It may be necessary to have more than one session to achieve the full permanent shape.

Placement of jaw tip prostheses:: It is an operation performed under operating room conditions. An incision is made inside the mouth or under the chin to prepare a place for the prosthesis. The prosthesis is placed in the appropriate position and the incisions are sutured.

In this method, flexible silicone prostheses or rigid porous polyethylene can be used. Solid prostheses should be fixed with screws.

Chin filing: In patients with very prominent chin tip or chin corners, the chin bone can be reduced by filing. It is performed under general anesthesia. Due to the anatomical structure of the bones, a limited amount of filing can be performed.

Genioplasty: It is the process of surgically cutting the jaw bones and moving them forward or backward. The moved part must also be fixed to the main bone with screws.

Chin aesthetics  is usually performed as a combined surgery with liposuction or laser liposuction to remove fat tissue under the chin, i.e. in the jowl area.
